Bulletin Description: In libraries, archives, museums (LAM) and other environments, information is delivered digitally in both online and brick and mortar locations. LAM professionals use digital tools, multimedia software, educational technology combined with knowledge of information sources, to contribute to research and digital projects. This course prepares students for these roles through projects that use digital tools for the delivery of content.
Course Goals:
Provide students with the knowledge and skills required to identify, locate, evaluate and provide information sources and research support to specific groups of users using professional guidelines and socially responsible methods
Offer hands-on experience in using digital sources and tools to deliver content to specific user communities, including various multimedia software for video editing, screen-casting, and content delivery as well as emphasis on user access and informed understanding of information
Student Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to
Apply critical and ethical thinking processes to the selection and use of information sources
Communicate information to users appropriate to their environment and needs
Critically evaluate information sources using professional standards
Apply professional standards or frameworks in the design of instructional materials
Discuss the socially responsible and ethical decision making in managing the process through which information agencies and organizations provide access to information to individual users and different groups of users
Create an information online multimedia digital resource for a specific user group, using professional tools and resources
Collaborate with peers in designing and creating information resources
