Well, here at the Lutheran Archives invite you to! Book covers come in many types and designs, like these examples from our collection, but they all serve the same purpose: to preserve their contents. While you'd think beautiful covers are only for looks or displays of wealth, they also contribute to the likelihood of a book being preserved because, in the rare book world, books with finer covers are often more collectible. So, while of course the content also matters, having a pretty cover doesn't hurt, and may in fact help with a book's long-term preservation! Learn more about covers and bookbinding terminology on our new blog!
